The Society and Culture class of 2014 recommended that we establish a new tradition at MOC, where we join the "Amble for ARA" team in the City to Bay each year for our Interaction (Group) social action. The aim is to raise awareness of the role of the Australian Refugee Association and show support for our school's ARA Youth Ambassadors and MOC students from a refugee background.
Due to the increase in enrolments in S&C since then, we are broadening the project to helping the 2016 Youth Ambassadors, Atiu and Matin from Year 10, make progress with the action plan created at their induction camp earlier this year.
There are three ways you can help:
- Participate in the Amble for ARA team on Sunday 18 September (preference given to PE students)
- Research whether it would be feasible to raise money by recycling bottles and cans at MOC
- Help the ambassadors work out how they can reduce racism at MOC
A fourth option not related to ARA is to help build our relationship with Para Wirra Conservation Park by volunteering at the Family Fun Day on Sunday 18 September.
