We will watch the 'Out of the kitchen' episode of Australian Story (ABC TV 2014) to learn about Jules Allen's experience as a Masterchef Australia contestant. It will describe some of the techniques, conventions used in the composition of the show, and how this connects with particular ideas, values, beliefs and your personal experiences. We will present key quotes on our classroom wall.

How are reality TV techniques, conventions and composition used to explore particular ideas, values and beliefs?In week 8 you will be provided with clips from a mystery reality television show to analyse.
Your analysis should be presented in the style of the panel show Reality Check (ABC TV 2014). Our "I DO/WE DO/YOU DO" analysis of the 'Tricks of the Trade' or 'The Big Moment' segments provides you with a starting point for deconstructing the clips provided.
