This assignment coincides with:
- National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day (4 August). 2017 marks 20 years since the publication of the Bringing Them Home report.
- International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples (9 August). 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The style of this unit is Experiential Learning. This means you will learn by experiencing what Reconciliation means in a variety of ways and process how this has affected your understanding of this concept.
In our very first lesson, you need to record what Reconciliation currently means to you (without looking it up). This is your starting point!
You will participate in up to eight learning experiences. Choose five of these eight learning experiences. At least one of them should be from our camp.
Write approx. 300 words or record approx. 90 seconds evaluating each of the five experiences with regard to this inquiry question:

- Exploring the ‘Learn’ chapters on the Share Our Pride website (Reconciliation Australia)
- Watching and discussing You Can’t Ask That (ABC TV Series 1 Episode 8, 2016)
- Actively participating in the Rafa Rafa Role Play (based on Bafa Bafa, Shirts 1970)
- Point Pearce tour (Quenten Agius from Aboriginal Cultural Tours) [on camp]
- Caring for Country – Innes National Park (Aaron Smith, Ranger of Park Operations) [on camp]
- Viewing the Sacred Ground (Mavromatis 2007) documentary and visiting Wattle Point Wind Farm, Port Vincent Marina and Black Point [on camp]
- Actively participating in Responding to Racism performance (Act Now Theatre)
