WHAT IS DVD COMMENTARY?
Audio commentary about "the making of" a film is sometimes included as an added extra on DVD releases. You will adopt the persona of the director and screenplay author (Nolan), soundtrack composer (Zimmer), director of photography (Pfister), an actor OR other contributors to the film. You will describe HOW the scene was composed behind the scenes and WHY (focussing on the effect/s on the audience). It is recommended that each clip be commentated using a different persona, as this will help you achieve a higher performance standard for assessment criteria KU2 and An2. PURPOSE: To examine how the film-makers have “made meaning” and influenced the audience’s opinions and decisions using film language techniques and conventions in particular scenes TARGET AUDIENCE: Viewers of DVD “extras” who want to know about the behind the scenes action |
